"What is poor in England, is rich in South Africa": Fighting youth homelessness in South Africa's toughest neighbourhood

"What is poor in England, is rich in South Africa": Fighting youth homelessness in South Africa's toughest neighbourhood

Camarades recently travelled to Johannesburg, South Africa to meet with Twilight Children and hear the stories of its homeless youth. We met with Catherine MacDonald and Emily Langa, two women who have devoted their lives to supporting their local community. We met youth who were homeless and often had to drop out of school because they didn't have the basic necessities such as money for transport or basic accommodation to study and sleep.

"These children, who grow up to be youth, wish to grow up to be something in life. Their home circumstances force them to go to the streets where there is no support system thus lose an opportunity to prove themselves. I am happy that at Twilight we are trying to offer them that opportunity."
